Volunteer Statement

After careful consideration and consult with health professionals, including our health partner Spectrum Health, Amway River Bank Run organizers have decided to reschedule the 2020 race from May 9 to October 24. All April training events and early May pre-race activities, including Junior have been canceled. A new training and event schedule will be shared as soon as possible.

The social distancing required to prevent the spread of COVID-19 has forced the cancellation of many events nationwide so the Amway River Bank Run is no exception. The safety of the runners, volunteers and supporters is at the center of this decision. We fully acknowledge the inconvenience this will cause and are working tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition. This is a difficult time for everyone, so we ask for your continued patience as we navigate the coming weeks.

Thank you to the West Michigan community for its ongoing support during this trying time. Despite postponement, we are asking for the community’s continued support. Even if you can no longer volunteer this year, your continued support is vital -- now more than ever.

As a volunteer, we hope you can still help in October.  Here are some options to consider:

Option 1:   Do Nothing.   Your current volunteer task will remain as is for the October 24 event and updated confirmations will be sent as we complete the transistion.

Option 2:    If October 23 or 24 doesn't work in your schedule:  Please contact the race office at runinfo@amwayriverbankrun.com 

Junior volunteers:  At this time, we have not secured an alternate date for the Junior event.  Your volunteer information will remain in our system while we complete the transition and we'll contact you with more information as we finalize the plans.
